Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Nursing (One Year Only) Faculty to work under the Nursing department for Fall, 2024. This position will provide coordination and instruction for block three students in the maternal/obstetrics field in the associate degree nursing program; includes a variety of teaching methods, such as classroom, lab, simulation and clinical instruction to students in maternal/obstetrics nursing; uses online, hybrid, face to face methods of instruction requiring a heavy utilization of technology; demonstrates commitment to student success for diverse populations; uses effective interpersonal, leadership and organization skills while instructing in an integrated curriculum designed using the Nurse of the Future Competencies; demonstrates commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity and diversity in the performance of job duties.

Essential Functions

Instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom, lab/simulation, and clinical settings.

Instructs students on clinical orientation systems; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter.

Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide and campus committees and activities; maintains office hours to assist and advise students.

Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree plus three (3) years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care

OR

A BSN and a graduate degree and two (2) years experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care

OR

A graduate degree in nursing and two (2) years of experience as a professional nurse providing direct patient care

2. Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.

3. Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including CPR certification, Fingerprint Clearance Card, and drug testing.

Desired Qualifications

A.Graduate degree in Nursing

B.Experience as a registered nurse in the maternal/OB field.

C. Recent practice in lab or clinical settings with specialization in maternal/OB nursing.

D. Experience teaching nursing students in the classroom, lab/simulation, and clinical settings in a college or nursing program.

E. Experience working within a nursing lab/simulation center, knowledge on curriculum guided nursing instruction, assessment of understanding, and familiarity of nursing lab equipment. And nursing lab technology.

F. Experience working with, interacting with and instructing individuals of diverse abilities and/or cultural backgrounds.

Special Working Conditions

Working in the classroom, lab/simulation, and various health care settings as a clinical nursing instructor, including hospitals, long term care facilities, and community agencies.

Must meet the health and safety standards required for clinical faculty.
