The Role

In collaboration with maintenance department management, existing automation resources, and with operating groups, the Senior Automation Engineer will support development and enhancement of Mesa site automation programs. The Senior Automation Engineer will also support business objectives through direct production support and capital project execution, as required.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Automation Engineer will:

    Recommend, develop, and implement tools and methods to improve controls system reliability and reduce unscheduled equipment / process downtime:
  • Process network systems and infrastructure
    • PLC programming tools and methods (RSLogix, Logix 500, Logix 5, Modicon)
    • Instrumentation and controls systems design and installation
    • Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design and installation
    • SCADA system design, installation, and operation.
    • FTHistorian server configuration, commissioning, and support.
    • VM configuration, commissioning, and support.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for ongoing operations, including support for callouts and remote troubleshooting
  • Develop data-driven methods and measures to improve process and equipment reliability
  • Ensure process controls infrastructure meets site and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure changes to process controls follow Fujifilm site Management of Change procedures
  • Interface with instrumentation and equipment vendors to ensure effective equipment utilization, ensure use of best-known methods for industrial automation, and effectively document required information in Mesa CMMP systems.
  • Support capital project development and execution as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Position requires a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in industrial automation / PLC programming with a focus on Allen Bradley Controllogix equipment and systems
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience using Allen Bradley Factorytalk View ME and SE software.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge and experience with complex instrumentation and controls systems
  • Understanding of Automation communication protocols, systems and infrastructure (Ethernet, Devicenet, Foundation Fieldbus, RIO, Modbus, RS485/232 communications protocols)
  • Experience with design and deployment of SCADA systems architecture
  • Solid background in controls systems troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Sufficient knowledge and experience to provide technical guidance in support of operational objectives
  • General knowledge of SAP preferred
