WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Quality Engineers work with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain management to assess quality and ensure all products are free from defects and in compliance with engineering and manufacturing specifications and government standards. They work to resolve any quality issues and provide guidance on process enhancements and improvements. Quality Engineers assist the Quality Manager in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the AS9100 and AS9110 Quality Management System.

As the Quality Engineer I, responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:

  • Assist the Quality Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Interact with manufacturing and engineering teams to optimize documentation related to quality and inspection checks, to include new product validation.
  • Support cross-functional teams in the execution and reporting of quality improvement projects with a focus on overall process improvements, scrap reduction and supplier quality improvement.
  • Assist inspectors and operations personnel to ensure product manufactured meet customer requirements.
  • Create inspection plans and procedures.
  • Participate in the AS9102 First Article Inspection planning process; assist Engineering staff to determine product characteristics.
  • Perform Quality Audits to determine the effectiveness of the Quality Program and prepare audit reports.
  • Manage suppliers' performance and conduct supplier audits.
  • Review incoming supplies and products from vendors to check for defects and ensure quality.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas that result in flaws.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for internal and customer non-conformances.
  • Analyze quality performance utilizing using statistical and analytical tools and methods data to identify trends and recommend updates or changes to quality standards and procedures when necessary.
  • Assist disposition process by conducting failure analysis and suggest corrective actions as Material Review Board member.
  • Assist with manufacturing scrap performance evaluation and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or logistics.
  • 1 - 3 years' experience in Aerospace Manufacturing.
  • Able to interpret aerospace blueprints and GD&T blueprints
  • Excellent statistical analysis and quality assurance skills.
  • Working knowledge of quality control standards and government compliance.
  • Experience with manufacturing and production processes and engineering principles.
  • Skilled in the use of all types of measuring equipment, such as scales, calipers, micrometers, hand tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional correspondence, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:

  • AS9100 or ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI).
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols and principles
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision. Assignments are received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the suppliers.
  • Able to build morale and group commitments to achieve goals and objectives; Supports everyone's efforts to succeed; Inspires and motivates others to perform well.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of various goods and services.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
