Workshop Technician

Chandler, Arizona

Mission/Purpose of the Job:

Sr. Workshop Technician is responsible for assembling/disassembling and testing of vacuum pumps according to a weekly plan. Acts as Zone Leader's deputy, plans the tasks in the assigned zone/area, participates on SIM3 meetings in Zone Leader's absence.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reviews HS2 documentation on daily basis
  • Is responsible for using the correct PPE, obeys required BAM processes and procedures
  • Reports lost time accidents and other accidents within 24 hours from the incident
  • Inspects parts, assemblies, and systems. Follows inspection criteria defined in Work Instructions, drawings, schematics, or other technical data as required
  • Repairs and test pumps in the required quality, based on the weekly plan
  • Is responsible for meeting the daily production targets with respect to quality, volume and efficiency. Collaborates with, other zone members and the Zone Leader in establishing priorities, ensures customer due dates are met.
  • Resolves issues as member of problem-solving team - QRQC L1
  • Is responsible for service product verification (CRM)
  • Is responsible for completing specific documentation (paper and electronic forms) and the accuracy of the data obtained during the working process (e.g. values received from testing stations)
  • Manages changes in assembly/disassembly plan
  • Raises issues at SIM2 meetings, cooperates with other colleagues in the zone
  • Acts as a Deputy of Zone Leader in his/her absence
  • Follows the Kanban system
  • Other tasks based on the decision of the Zone Leader
  • Obeys and implements VTPS rules/standards

Scope of the job:

  • Working under prescribed safe handling procedures.
  • Through observation of work area(s), is alert to and avoids unsafe behaviors and conditions or other hazards. Reports any observed hazards to team lead, and supervisor. Participates in corrective measures when appropriate or authorized. Maintains work areas and keeps areas free of hazards.
  • Reports all injuries and/or near misses to management immediately. Participates in and cooperates with accident investigations.
  • Fully participates in assigned training programs. Attempts to perform only those tasks for which proper training has been received. Notifies manager if faced with a task which is potentially hazardous to self or co-workers due to inadequate training or lack of appropriate PPE.
  • Adheres to all SHE procedures. Seeks clarification or additional information when required. Strictly adheres to requirement
  • Good organisation and communication skills are required to ensure the efficiency of the operation and that of the other work areas contribute to the output of the unit

Skills / Knowledge / Experience

  • High School education, preferably in a mechanical/technical field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in manufacturing or similar
  • Ability to work with hand and power tools
  • Good PC literacy; experience with SAP an advantage
  • Ability to read drawings, schematics, and published specifications
  • Some knowledge of English is a huge advantage
  • Willingness to work in shifts, time flexibility, detailed oriented person with faithfulness
  • Limited leadership skills and experience is a plus
