At Ports America, the Network Engineering Manager drives the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of the company's Global Network Infrastructure. Key leadership responsibilities include: establishing goals and objectives for third party resources and assessing those goals upon completion; evaluating and assisting in the negotiation of favorable prices with vendors for hardware, software, and services; working with other departments during disaster recovery and business continuity strategies and solutions; and establishing a strong relationship with the business and IT users to gain a clear understanding of their network requirements and project expectations.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic architecture for WAN/LAN services supporting Corporate Offices, and Facilities Operations functions.
  • Lead by example and establish a team culture that facilitates proactive collaboration across IT and internal departments that is customer focused, solutions oriented, and driven for action and results.
  • Analyze the needs of departments and establish priorities for network design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the company's networks and network applications.
  • Coordinate with other departments (Corporate Applications, Engineering, and Terminal Technology Support) to ensure that network requirements are fully understood and fulfilled.
  • Oversee network design and documentation standards, the change control process, and operational processes for the department.
  • Assist in managing network technology vendors and network services providers.
  • Monitor the performance of the network and the services provided by network service providers.
  • Research and recommend network services providers and products; evaluate emerging network technologies and recommend future directions.
  • Analyze network traffic to characterize and troubleshoot network performance problems.
  • Support, propose and Enhance Cyber security initiatives.
  • Support, propose and Enhance BC/DR Initiatives
  • Support server and desktop management teams as needed.
  • Position is on-call 7x24 as a key escalation point within Enterprise Infrastructure.
  • Travel - Up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or related discipline.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in the design, implementation, and support of complex enterprise networks.
  • 5+ years of vendor management experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a network focused IT team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCDP, CCNP or equivalent certification
  • Strong working knowledge of EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, VPN, IPSEC, Multicast, VoIP, MPLS, SDWAN, and QoS.
  • Good working knowledge of and hands-on experience with Cisco / Meraki technologies is essential.
  • Good working knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls and monitoring tools.
  • Good working knowledge of wireless technology including Wi-Fi and Private LTE and 5G.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and solve them, creating solutions that are practical, cost effective, reliable, and meet the needs of the business.
