Quality Control Technician

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Quality Control Technician to be based out of Phoenix, AZ. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Control Technician will be responsible for verifying the adherence to product quality standards related to outer diameter (O.D.), coatings, chromate, and monitor O.D. coating, weld flash.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct audits for compliance with quality standards and control procedures, customer requirements; includes first article inspections and final inspections, and safety audits and apply 5s in your work environment
  • Assist in verification and troubleshooting of in-line inspection systems
  • Perform pre-shipment (load check) inspections and destructive testing of mechanical tubing.
  • Maintain the Product Certification Process for mechanical tubing.
  • Prepare product certificates for customers.
  • Support the existing Gage Calibration System.
  • Responsible for notifying production personnel of out of conformance product and train production associates on applicable testing and inspection procedures/methods
  • Report and track to closure of quality nonconformance and ensure proper quarantine of such material.
  • Actively participate in identifying and correcting the root cause for nonconforming issues.
  • Maintain, archive, and retrieve applicable quality, test and inspection reports via hardcopy or electronic means.
  • Support the Quality Department capability studies (gage R&R and other applicable PPAP experience is a plus)
  • Responsible for re-tests on rejected materials within production/warehouse.
  • Support the NCP (Non-Conforming Product) and MRB (Material Review Board) system
  • Follow and adhere to all company safety policies and practices.
  • Support the Lean Manufacturing initiative of the company and perform other duties as assigned.


What you'll bring:

  • Minimum High School diploma (preferably Associates degree or higher.)
  • At least two years in related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Capable of re-prioritizing on the fly when issues arise
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and make good decisions.
  • Customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Understanding and verifying production inspection sheets
  • Understanding and ability to read/interpret blueprints preferred
  • Knowledge of key elements of SPC and how to apply/interpret data preferred
  • Computer literate; working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is a plus
  • Skill to use of powered hand tools: reciprocating saw, drill, etc. preferred
  • Ability to use micrometers, calipers, and precision instruments to measure parts for conformity preferred


Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete initial training.
  • Be able to identify quality issues.
  • Know how to use our processes and tools to correctly report on quality to improve production operations.
