What you'll do:

Manage the operational aspects for mortgage whole loan transactions. For mortgage loan purchases, manage review and purchase of closed mortgage loans from a variety of counter parties. Oversee diligence, collateral review, and quality control functions to ensure the bank is purchasing high quality mortgage loans that conform to the bank's policies and procedures. Coordinate loan purchases, servicing transfers and trailing documents collection. Serve as a key liaison for customers that are delivering mortgage loans to the bank on a flow basis. For mortgage loan sales transactions, manage clearing of conditions, loan sales, servicing transfers, and trailing document requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Supervise a team of transaction coordinators involved in the purchase or sale of closed mortgage loans by the bank.
  • Oversee 3rd party diligence vendors that review mortgage loans for the bank to ensure their work quality meets the bank's standards.
  • Work closely with customers to clear conditions needed to purchase loans. Work closely with investors to clear conditions on loan sales by the bank.
  • Manage collateral review, transfers, and trailing documents process. Manage relationships with document custodians.
  • Coordinate servicing transfers.
  • Oversee MERS updates and reporting, as well as assignments done outside of MERS.
  • Write policies, procedures, and checklists to ensure strong controls and oversight.
  • Manage loan pipeline to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Serve as key customer liaison to ensure customer expectations are met, service standards are adhered to, and issues are elevated and resolved in a timely manner.

What you need to have:

  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage operations (processing, underwriting, closing, post-closing, mortgage whole loan trading operations).
  • Ideal candidate is highly experienced in the operational aspects of mortgage whole loan transactions.
  • Likely candidate has served as an operations/post-closing manager at an independent mortgage bank involved in the selling of mortgages, or as an operations manager at a correspondent firm or bank involved in the purchase of closed mortgage loans.
  • Knowledge of credit, compliance, and collateral conditions that are commonly found on TPR securitization reports.
  • Experienced in, or ability to quickly obtain proficiency in: MERS, servicing transfer oversight, document custodian relationships, collateral review and collateral tracking.
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance regulations.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Strong process and controls background with attention to detail.
  • Advanced oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and determine trends, including strong spreadsheet skills.
  • College degree preferred, but not required.
  • Self-starter, self-reliant, dependable, ability to work within and meet specific time constraints. Ability to take ownership of projects and see them thru to completion.
  • Flexibility in decision making with strong problem-solving skills.
