Position Summary:
The Creighton University College of Nursing invites candidates to apply for a joint faculty position between the College of Nursing (CON) and St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP). In this inaugural role, the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust Endowed Chair in Pediatric Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Director becomes part of the legacy of Creighton University, representing a tradition of excellence in teaching and research. Located at Creighton University's Health Science Campus in Phoenix, Arizona, this new opportunity will seek to enhance Creighton University's longstanding partnership with St. Vincent de Paul and the Virginia G Piper Charitable Trust for providing services for the underserved, uninsured population in Phoenix, Arizona. With an increase of needs among pediatric populations, the Endowed Chair in Pediatric Nursing and Pediatric Nurse Director will be dedicated to advancing the care of the pediatric population and their families as a nurse scientist and expert clinician among SVdP and the Phoenix Dream Center. A successful candidate will lead and work in interdisciplinary clinical and educational teams to expand services for pediatric populations and their families that are mission centric to our Jesuit Catholic vision of training compassionate and competent healthcare providers devoted to excellence as well as to serve the needs of children in Phoenix and the surrounding region.
Essential Functions:
Clinical
* Advance the care of the pediatric population and their families as a nurse scientist and expert clinician among SVdP and the Phoenix Dream Center.
* Lead and work in interdisciplinary clinical and educational teams to expand services for pediatric populations and their families that are mission centric to our Jesuit Catholic vision of training compassionate and competent healthcare providers devoted to excellence as well as to serve the needs of children in Phoenix and the surrounding region.
* Coordination of CON and SVdP outcomes to enhance nursing education and expanding services for pediatric populations and their families that are mission centric to our Jesuit Catholic vision of training compassionate and competent healthcare providers to serve the needs of children.
Teaching
* Teach and provide learning experiences as assigned for students consistent with College of Nursing needs and standards for rank.
Scholarship
* Maintain and develop a scholarship program in translational research, evidence-based practice, as well as patient outcomes among a growing population of uninsured pediatric patients.
Service
* Service to the organization including university, college and departmental committees.
* Professional service and membership within a professional pediatric organization.
Education & Experience:
* Earned Doctorate, preferred PhD preparation.
* Ability to engage a broad range of audiences and bring diverse academic and clinical practice scholars together.
* Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to build a team environment that facilitates inter-professional collaboration and mentorship.
* Evidence of professional leadership and mentorship.
* A commitment to the Mission of Creighton University and the College of Nursing
* An established track record of federal funding, with pediatric focus.
* Leadership or membership within a professional pediatric organization.
* Experience in a joint position between clinical and education partners
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner with 5-10 years of clinical experience among pediatric populations.
* A distinguished record of teaching among undergraduate or graduate level nursing programming.
* A record of scholarship and experience to qualify for the rank of Associate Professor, or Professor in a tenure eligible position.
* Experience and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels throughout multiple institutions, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both in writing and orally
* Ability to critically think and problem-solve to achieve endowment objectives.
Licenses/Certifications:
* Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner with 5-10 years of clinical experience among pediatric populations.
* Eligible for licensure as a registered nurse and APRN in the state of Arizona.
