CHS is looking for a full time factory occupational health nurse/ergonomics professional to work in an onsite health unit clinic in Tucson, AZ. The hours are full time Monday thru Friday.


Scope:


The Factory Occupational Health Nurse/Ergonomics Professional (FOHN) reports directly to the Regional Manager. The Factory OHN is responsible for support of all Occupational Injuries/Illnesses and related processes in the manufacturing arena.


Goal:


The implementation of the Factory Occupational Health Nurse (FOHN) supports the overall mission at Missiles Systems to provide a safe and healthy work environment for the work force. This proposal recommends placing a Health Professional near the Factory which will provide easier access to medical care for manufacturing employees.


The goal is multi-pronged:


- Provide and maintain an occupational health presence providing a proactive approach to work place injuries and illnesses

- Implement an integrated approach to Occupational/Non Occupational work place restrictions and modified duty



Qualifications:



  • RN, BSN strongly preferred; Current License
  • COHN or track record of Continuing Education in Occupational Health or Public Health
  • Knowledge of OSHA Recordkeeping requirements
  • Knowledge of Workers Compensation Process
  • Strong Clinical Skills
  • Ergonomic Experience including knowledge of ergonomic theory and principles
  • Experience in health education for Managers, Supervisors and employees
  • Experience with EMR and Occupational Health Information Systems

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assessment of work related injuries and illness
  • Administer First Aid treatment as appropriate for both occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses
  • Visible presence on the factory floor

- follow-up with employees regarding injuries/illnesses


  • Participate in Flu Immunization Clinics
  • Refer treatment beyond First Aid to Health Center as appropriate
  • Case Manage restrictions and modified duty to closure
  • Support Factory Leadership and the Ergonomic Team by supporting and providing recommendations regarding rotational strategies
  • Provide appropriate proactive prevention wellness activities
  • Maintain Medgate documentation
  • Maintain the first aid/accident log
  • Assist EHS with accident investigation for all recordable injuries/illnesses. Medically evaluate and conduct a root-cause-analysis with EHS.
  • Provide medical recommendations regarding root-cause-analysis, pre-disposition factors and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Participate on the Ergonomic Council
  • Support new hire orientation
  • Referrals to EAP will be made for the following:

- Drug and Alcohol Training

- Appropriate psycho-social issues


  • Referrals to the Main Health Center will be made for the following:

- Travel Medicine

- Reasonable suspicion for Substance Abuse

- AED Program Coordination



  • Responsible for maintenance of Satellite Health Center

- Maintenance of Equipment

- Ordering Supplies


  • Member of the EHS operations (safety) committee as an active member

- Provides updates and reports

- Provides recommendations
